Hi,

I’ll be studying in Germany for the next 6 to 7 months and I’m looking to buy a SIM card. From what I read online O2 offers decent services for the price. I am however very surprised that for €10 their plan only offers 6GB of data.

I could use some help with this, so any recomendation and extra information is welcome :)

edit: thank you all for your answers!

congstar has a plan with 15 Gigs for 20 bucks that you can cancel monthly.
Best coverage in Germany thanks to figuratively bein the telekom. Data is expensive in Germany

Late add: You could also just buy a sim from any other country in the EU and just roam. Most countries don’t care if you roam forever with their cards.

Some supermarkets here offer their own sim cards as well, either with a plan or prepaid. Aldi Talk is pretty poremovedr and yeah data is expensive here in Germany. The lobby is strong, in eastern Europe phone plans are much much cheaper

I also recommend Aldi-Talk. They have a variety of plans and offer in my opinion the best value if you want to keep monthly spending low. It’s prepaid, so no yearly subscription. Afaik the SIM itself is free. Only issue: setting up the account to automatically withdraw money is quite a hassle. But you can buy codes similar to paysafe cards (do they still exist?). Note: That was a few years ago, might have changed by now.

    I am using https://www.simonmobile.de/

They offer good coverage (D Netz, not O2 which does not work great where I am working) and you can terminate the contract at the end of every month, so no 2 year contract. 9€ for 12GB of data plus phone flatrate.
